As the director of vehicle security operations (VSO), you own all aspects of VSO business – from operations to profit/loss to business development to roadmap. You must lead and grow an entire team at BH. For this role, you need to understand the industry well and be well-connected with individuals and companies that you know are the true innovators in the space. Your key insights and decisions will not only directly correspond to Block Harbor’s Vehicle Security Engineering Cloud (VSEC) and service offerings. You’ll be leading a team of incredibly capable individuals that are, like you, seeking to make an impact in automotive security. This leadership position requires that you can consistently lead the team to output exceptional quality work for current or prospective clients consistent with Block Harbor’s standards.
Duties
You’ll have to:

Lead the direction of Vehicle Security Operations, present strategies to the larger team, establish quarterly/yearly goals & objectives, and execute.

Maintain the performance

Lead a team to write technical proposals and then execute those proposals, making sure that all deliverables are met at Block Harbor quality.

Prepare budget requests for initiatives such as team growth, process optimization, and capability increases (like new tools in our lab facility).

Discuss industry challenges and develop great ideas in automotive security and share those freely and openly via avenues like conferences.

Develop Project execution plans, timelines and working Technical process documentation for business agreements to be pursued at your direction.

Support Vehicle Security Operations team members in product development endeavors like developing more trainings, resources or funding to pursue research projects.

Be able to design and build technical prototypes of products and services that solve challenges in the automotive cybersecurity.

Act as a thought partner to clients in finding ways to move faster and drive greater impact.

Support Business development research to understand product-market fit, including any technical research (e.g. performing testing to collect data that may support a solution)

Work with partner organizations, profit and non-profit, to build jointly-offered solutions to establish shared revenue stream.

Take ownership of a Vehicle Security Operations project execution, from beginning to end, including developing and managing own engagement timelines.

Thought leader in the development of automotive security specifications with Hands-on experience e.g. familiar with specific Security concepts, technology and tools.
Required Experience & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with relevant industry-certifications.

Demonstrated ability to manage a team,delegate and communicate goals effectively to technical team members.

Demonstrated knowledge of relevant industry standards & regulations (e.g. ISO/SAE 21434, UNECE WP.29 R155) and understanding of their impact on the automotive industry. Experience with these standards/regulation is crucial as we believe it is the only market driver.

Prior experiences in planning developing own skills independently and development of the skills with motivated team members.

Ability to scope service requests for Defensive security and CSMS consulting with project proposal agreements and project planning for 3-12 months engagements.

Experience in the Issue Resolution (SUP.9) and Change Management (SUP.10).

Demonstrated analytical, design and problem-solving process experience and awareness of root cause methodology e.g. 8D, Ishikawa, Fishbone, Safety FMEDA .

Experienced in Threat Modeling methodologies and tools in conformance with ISO/SAE 21434:21 e.g. TARA development and Risk Management.
Preferred Experience & Qualifications

Masters/Ph.D degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with relevant industry-certifications OR ability to demonstrate independently pursued capabilities (e.g. founder, researcher, etc.).

Demonstrated ability in Project Management relevant industry agile or classic certification, such as a SSM, PMP.

Demonstrated ability to develop training plans and modules to bridge knowledge gaps in your team.

Demonstrated ability to work within and configure a cloud computing environment (e.g. AWS).

Proven and robust understanding of Automotive Product development lifecycle and/or industry standard frameworks such as ASPICE, AVCDL, or SDLC.

A working knowledge in automotive networking and communication technologies: CAN, WiFi, Bluetooth, Automotive Ethernet, V2X, USB, FlexRay, etc.

Demonstrated competence in cybersecurity management and/or hold a relevant industry certification, such as a CISM, CISSP.

Prior Software development experience, with abilities to rapidly prototype in languages like C, C++, Python, SQL, NodeJS.

Experience with software development in the AUTOSAR product environment stack and relevant Off-the-Shelf security modules.
